Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Banana Split (“Banana Split”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores and shares information when you use our website and stem-player application (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Overview
Banana Split is a tool for bands to rehearse with recorded music. You upload audio, separate it into stems, build practice mixes, and share them with your bandmates. To do this we need to store the files you upload, a small amount of account information, and the settings you create. We aim to collect only what the Service needs to work, and to keep your music and your account secure.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (if you sign up with email and password). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile identifier from Google.
- Audio and content you provide. The audio files you upload (full mixes or stems), AI-separated stems generated from those files, and any titles, sections, markers, loops, lyrics, mix snapshots and messages you create or send within the Service.
- Band and collaboration data. The bands (workspaces) you create or join, member roles, invitations you send, and mixes you share with other members.
- Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details. We receive a customer identifier, subscription status and billing events from Stripe, but we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage and technical data. Basic logs needed to operate the Service, such as actions like uploads, splits and exports, along with standard technical information (for example IP address, browser type and timestamps) generated when you interact with the Service.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate and maintain the Service, including storing and playing back your audio;
- separate uploaded mixes into stems using AI processing;
- create and manage your account and your bands;
- enable collaboration features such as shared libraries, invitations and shared mixes;
- process subscriptions, payments and renewals;
- send transactional emails such as sign-up confirmations, invitations and password resets;
- enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure;
- diagnose problems, improve the Service, and comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploaded audio to train AI models.
4. Your audio & content
You retain all rights to the audio and content you upload. We store your files solely to provide the Service to you and the bandmates you choose to collaborate with. Uploaded files are sent to our AI processing provider only when you request a stem split, and only for the purpose of generating stems that are returned to your account.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to upload and use any audio you bring into the Service. See our Terms of Service for more on acceptable use.
6. Service providers
We rely on the following key providers to deliver the Service. Each processes data only as needed to provide their function:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Replicate — AI audio processing used to separate uploaded mixes into stems.
- Convex — application database that stores your account, bands and song metadata.
- Vercel — hosting of the application and storage of uploaded audio files.
- Resend — delivery of transactional email such as invitations and password resets.
- Google — optional sign-in if you choose to use it.
7. Payments
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. When you subscribe, you provide your payment details directly to Stripe, and Stripe’s own privacy policy governs that processing. We receive confirmation of your subscription status, a customer identifier, and billing events so we can give you access to paid features and manage your plan. We never receive or store your full card number.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete a song, its associated files and settings are removed from the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your login credentials private.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can update much of your account information directly in the Service. To make any other request, contact us using the details below and we will respond in line with applicable law.
11. International transfers
Banana Split and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this Policy and applicable law.
12. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.
